 Pension Anna Bouzi Corfu, A room with a 'great' viewNo fence, no trees - free view onto the planes - and you have the choice for perfect shots of aircraft taxiing, landing or taking off - all in very close distance! The north-south orientation of the runway provides for good photographing possibilities with good lighting during whole holiday season from May through September. Pension Anna Bouzi is located at the threshold of runway 35 in Kanoni just below Hotel Royal. You have the choice to make your shots from the balcony of your room having a drink or join the tourists on the terrace of Hotel Royal, that offer an elevated view at 230 feet above the touchdown point. The light is good all year round till noon but only few meters away on the dam you can continue with good sun till early afternoon prior you move onto terraces on the other side via a 700 feet long dam across or onto a spit of land, which apparently is not so easy to find. Or you opt for beach and swim in the wonderful Mediterranean sea with all nice beaches being reached by car within 30 to 90 minutes. For best results you only need a 50-150mm digital zoom, for analogue photography a lens up to 250 mm can be sometimes useful. On major traffic days (Monday, Tuesday, Friday and Saturday) you can watch planes all night till sunrise. During our stay at the Pension Anna Bouzi we had no sleeping problems caused by night flights, only takeoffs from runway 35 can be noisy... Update June 2006: Some of the flights are now operated after 6 or 7pm or between midnight and 6am. Friday has not so many traffic like Fridays in 2005. There are some single charters on Sunday.  You can also make pictures from the terrace of the Royal Hotel providing an acceptable self service. Sit down and enjoy the great view on the runway and the mouse island. How to get there: From Pension Anna Bouzi, walk to the dam and soon you will find the stairs up on the left near the parking spot. You will be up there normally within five minutes. Or take the car, follow the Kanoni signs and park for free in front of the Hotel Royal or the terraces where you will find the 'Captains' as well, our recommendation for lunch or dinner (try the Tzatziki! It's the best on Corfu).
